As for myself, I have already ignored people because they were maintaining a stream of chatter in a public area that I found irritating, so I filtered them out. *shrug* I understand that being ignored is often taken personally, so I explained to them before using it, but that is just because I wanted to be polite. On the other hand, I don't like to use it much either, because I feel it is good to be open to new people. And when I use it, I also will turn it off again when I feel like it.
If it reached the point where I felt someone was harassing me, I certainly would use it. Not a question about wrong or right, just about enjoying myself.
Yeah that bit is true too... If you actually tell them that it is just because you don't like their conversation, I guess it's okay
It is true that it looks irritating to be ignored because it means that the person doesn't want to talk to me, though I can understand the reason ^^And yeah, in the case of harassment it's pretty much your only option with the reports
