Anyway i know that it's kinda hard for the boys to start a conv due to all that fake "lesbians" out there (if you know what i mean). I've even tried starting a new conversation with a male avatar with people who doesnt know it is mine. They treat me completely diferent just because it's a male avatar. It's feels kinda discriminatory, but there is nothing i can do about except not talking with them anymore.
The thing about the "Hi, how are you?" approach is, while yes it is simple and can easily be copy pasted to every girl on the server, it's not offensive, and it's the same way I'd start a conversation irl. And I try to actually give a genuine caring thought into how their day is going, if they respond with a genuine caring response. If I say, "Hi, how are you?" and the other player replies. "Good." or even "Good, you?", it doesn't give me a lot to work with. Now, I can understand that women in this game receive far more PMs than men do, and a lot of them are simple or lack any point other than starting a conversation, like "Hi" or "Hey", but giving a real response and attempting to carry on a two way conversation can lead to meeting some very great people in game. And as you described, it's become increasingly hard as a free to play male to find people to talk to on this game, because many of them are female avatars (whether they are girls or not irl) and are either lesbians in game, or prefer women, or have "no men" or something similar in their bio, or require you to send them an in depth RP scene before talking to them. And while sometimes that's fun to do, sometimes I just want to be able to meet people who are sexual and fun, and if we click, we can go to the bedroom, and if not, then we can just continue talking about whatever interests that we might share.
I still feel that there needs to be significant changes to the actual social part of this game before a lot of this gets better (such as UI updates, like the friend and room invites appearing either on the side of the game, or somewhere out of the way, rather than taking your entire screen from you.) But hopefully soon this becomes easier, because I don't feel like getting on nearly as often if I know that I need to put a solid hour or two into just finding someone to reply to my messages.
