I've been talking about the economy system with friends ever since it happened. Some have given me opinions and point of views defensing it that I can;t argue with. Others, have had their fair share of complaints that I also agree with. I've skimmed though the thread so I may not have all the points of view here but this is what I think of the entire system.
I have been a player since the game was released and have had premium for that long as well minus a month. That being said I am not a fan of the economy change simply for the fact that they gave MnF an economy. Sure, the alt farm was an exploit but it was an exploit that anyone could use to get money that didn't have any value at all. I think there wouldn't be this big talk about circulation and taxing and the 1% if they had just let the money stay a valueless toy. This is a game that I play to just socialize and chill out and adding real value to money has made thing both better and worse.
I don't have much trouble with money now. I think that this change has made peoples creativity really spark. Like apartment designers or code sellers. I also think that it has turned people into vultures. You can't go anywhere without seeing an escort, which isn't bad when it's a sex game but now whenever I see a price on something I can't help but calculate what the real world value that is in my head. That's a problem that I have to think about real life things while playing a game.
A friend presented it to me in a way that opened my eyes. She said that taking the exploit wasn't a huge deal. She had no problem with the fact that they monetized the MnF cash. What really irked her was the fact that after they gave the cash value every update in the game started getting expensive. From the apartments to outfits to items for new poses, it all got a pretty high price sticker compared to what we had seen before which made this, according to her, an obvious money grab from the game.
It's obviously too late to make MnF cash harmless again but maybe there's other ways to help new players that are actually new. Maybe an untradeable, one time use outfit and motel voucher. This way new players could get a second outfit and a taste of the motel with out having to grind out cash straight off of joining. I say make it untradeable so it doesn't get exploited. As for premiums, it was obvious that they let premium player keep the starting thousand as an incentive to buy and keep premium. Instead of making them have to make a new alt everyday to earn some cash maybe just give us a 1k a day allowance on the first avi in our accounts. We already spend money on the game but not all of us have time to log in daily, make an alt and transfer the 1k. I know I can't since I'm tired from earning money to pay for my premium. I do also think that non premium players should be able to make bank transfers. They don't have starting money anymore so what is the harm? This would make things easier on code sellers and non premium buyers too since they wouldn't have to use the pole method. As for charging for for transfers...that's making this more of an economy and I don't see that as a good thing with the stage this game is in. This is MnF, not 3DXChat.
