Even before that final line, I had an image of Rio de Janeiro in mind, with The Redeemer 'watching' over the city. And all the while beneath his blind gaze, evil devours what goodness remains. And as this goes on, the corrupt authorities siphon public money into their own accounts, allowing the city to fall into ruin.

Then I read the final line, and nodded to myself.
