The better part of me
 
The better part of me dwells beyond the sea
In a far away land, an emerald gemstone
Cradled by waves of foaming lapis lazuli,
Glittering with an inner light all of its own.
 
Alas, ‘twas meant to be this way.
 
The better part of me burns bright and true, shining
Flame of boundless creativity, a dreamer
Of tremendous potential, always trailblazing
Way ahead of the world with nothing to stop her.
 
And in turn she inspires me.
 
The better part of me holds my heart in her hand
How could it be otherwise? She is my lover,
My dear soulmate, the one besides whom I shall stand
Come what may, lifetimes apart or joined together
 
For I love her with all my heart.

There is an English phrase for a partner or lover, where they are called the 'better half.' I assumed the title to be in reference to that.

IvanXLIV, this make me feel envious and alone.  So, job well done.  A beautiful and moving piece.  It's amazing what an altered state of consciousness, i.e. daydreaming, can sometimes accomplish.
